DESCRIPTION:
The setup consists of 2 pipes of different diameters, which are connected in parallel. To measure the pressure losses, pressure sensors are provided Control valves are fitted on each pipe, which enables to use one pipe at a time for experiment. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank and a centrifugal pump etc. Flow control valve and by-pass valve are fitted in water line to conduct the experiment on different flow rates. Flow rate of water is measured by flow sensor.
 
The present set-up has a facility to interface the system with computer which enables to log the experimental data using computer. The educational software and data-logging package has been developed for unit. The software environment base is of Lab view of NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS, USA. This software is compatible to interfacing unit designed by “Lab Smith”. This software package provides a comprehensive educational software environment within which the investigations can be performed. This software is capable to tabulate the sample readings according to the requirement of experiment under study and results obtained can be compared. The real time data acquisition can be done by interfacing the set-up with computer using software. Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data, preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.

  • To determine the losses due to fiction in pipes.
  • To determine the friction factor for Darcy Weisbach equation.

  • Water Supply.
  • Floor Drain.
  • Electricity 0.5 kW, 220V AC, Single Phase.
  • Floor Area 1.5 x 0.75 m.
  • Computer System: Pentium IV with DVD Drive, Windows 7, MS-Office pre-loaded. One USB slot required in PC for DATA ACQUISITION CARD.
