Combo Therapy
Combination Therapy(Combo Therapy) is mainly designed for home visit purposes. Combo Therapy has digitally controlled different therapies like Interferential Therapy, Ultrasonic Therapy, Muscle Stimulator, Tens etc with fixed as well as without programs.
Interferential Therapy
Application of two medium currents produces a low-frequency current effect at the point of intersection of the two currents. This is the basic principle of the IFT in the Combo Therapy. Interferential Current Therapy is the application of electrical energy to the tissue in which two medium frequency alternating currents of around 4000 Hz, slightly out of phase, produce an Amplitude Modulated current of low frequency through the effect of interference.
Ultrasonic Therapy
In Combo Therapy, the ultrasonic therapy is used to utilize ultrasound energy to treat body tissues. Ultrasound is generated by a transducer head which consists of a crystal mounted at the front that transforms one form of energy into another. There are a number of methods by which digital ultrasound is applied. The most common method is to use a “Contact” application, where a thin layer of oil or gel is applied to the skin prior to treatment. The requirement for the Coupling Medium is that it has a similar acoustic impedance to skin.
Muscle Stimulator
Muscle Stimulator in Combo Therapy is used to achieve many effects including strengthening and re-education of muscle, reduction of oedema, relief of pain and would repair. A number of different types of named currents are used for stimulating the muscle or nerve directly or indirectly. Mini Muscle Stimulator, one of the most efficient muscle stimulator, uses various types of Faradic & Galvanic currents for this purpose. Mini Muscle Stimulator produces electrical pulses enter the body tissues via surface electrodes.
TENS
Combo Therapy with TENS is a low-frequency current modality most widely used as the analgesic physiotherapeutic modality. TENS controls pain noninvasively and without narcotics.Pain is an undemonstrative subjective feeling accompanying the stimulation of nociceptors. The information about the pain is sensed by receptors or nociceptors and is carried to the higher centers in the brain through the fibers. These fibers group themselves into tracts in the spinal cord and send the impulses to and fro the brain through tracts called ‘Spinal Tracts’.
During TENS, pulsed currents are generated by a portable pulse generator and delivered across the intact surfaces of the skin via conducting pads called Electrodes. The conventional way of administering TENS is to use electrical characteristics that selectively activate large diameter ‘touch fibers without activating smaller diameter nociceptive fibers. Evidence suggests that this will produce pain relief in a similar way to ‘rubbing’ the pain better
